UW’S WLCP Goes Global with Ongoing Fall Sessions

The university of Wyoming’s World Language and Cultural Program is offering 18 free sessions via Zoom this Fall. The founder, Dilnoza Khasilova, a UW graduate who earned her doctoral degree in literacy studies, and is a current Global Engagement Fellow in UW’s Global Engagement Office, said that these sessions are not like your typical classes, but rather a community.

Registration for free world language and culture sessions from the University of Wyoming’s World Language and Culture Program (WLCP) will open Feb. 1-7. Free classes offer exposure to world languages, cultures

Registration is now open for the University of Wyoming’s World Language and Culture Program, which offers free weekly language and culture classes during the spring semester. All sessions are open to the community, and this semester’s offerings will all take place online via Zoom. The spring schedule includes 18 classes in Arabic, Armenian, German, French, Hebrew, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Turkish and Uzbek, plus a course on American culture with English conversation practice.

By creating the World Language and Culture Program at the University of Wyoming five years ago, Khasilova was able to combine her love for teaching, her passion for language and her desire to give back to the community. Khasilova started the program, which offers free language classes to the community, while obtaining her master’s degree at UW in 2014. She said she always knew education would be part of her life; both of her parents were educators, and she said she was teaching a classroom of toys as a young girl.
